DC to Cloud Migration
1. Login to Jira DC
Begin by logging into your Jira Data Center instance with administrative privileges.
2. Navigate to System Settings
Click on the gear icon located in the upper-right corner.
Select System from the drop-down menu.
3. Initiate Migration
In the left-hand navigation panel, scroll down and click on Migrate to cloud under the Import and Export section.
4. Migration Steps
Follow the guided steps as presented in the Jira Migration Assistant:
Step 1: Assess Your Instance
Review the overall health and readiness of your current DC instance for cloud migration.
Take note of any warnings or recommendations Atlassian provides.
Step 2: Assess Your Apps
Analyze the apps installed in your DC instance.
Note: You may encounter a warning such as:
"This app does not have an automated migration path. Contact the app vendor for migration support."
Action: Users can ignore this warning and proceed with the migration process.
Step 3: Prepare Your Apps
Set up any required apps in the cloud environment.
Ensure cloud equivalents are available for the apps you need.
Step 4: Migrate Your Data
Use the Jira Cloud Migration Assistant (JCMA) to transfer project data, users, issues, and attachments from DC to cloud.
Step 5: Create a Migration
Define a migration plan within JCMA.
Select the projects and users to migrate.
Schedule and run the migration.
Additional Tips:
Backup your DC instance before initiating any migration.
Test the migration in a staging cloud site before performing a live migration.
