Create Links from Within LXP
Traditionally, linking work items in Jira required switching contexts, navigating to individual issues, and manually managing connections. With Links Explorer, that friction is gone.
You can now create and manage work items links directly from within the app — whether you're working in the Unified Tree View or the Traceability Report (Link Type or Tree tabs). This makes it easy to maintain accurate traceability without ever leaving your traceability context.
You can create new links from within the app in the following views:
Unified Tree View
Traceability Report – Link Type View
Traceability Report – Tree View
How It Works
Wherever you see a ➕ button in the report or tree, you can click it to open the Issue Linking panel.
Depending on the view:
Unified Tree View / Traceability Report – Tree Tab:
The source issue is automatically filled.
The link type is also pre-filled and cannot be changed, as it reflects the structure of the tree you're working in.
You select the target work item(s) to link.
Traceability Report – Link Type View:
The source issue is pre-filled.
The link type is pre-filled based on the column you clicked ➕ in — but can be changed before linking.
This makes it ideal for exploring multiple types of relationships from a single location.
Linking is currently supported in all views except the Issue Type tab in the Traceability Report.
